How laminate is installed properly
Flat subfloor first
Laminate locks plank to plank. Over an uneven floor the joints work loose and separate, so leveling is not optional.
Underlayment
Correct underlayment for sound, moisture and comfort underfoot, matched to the slab.
Expansion gaps
Floating floors move. Gaps are left at every wall and fixed object, then concealed by trim.
Layout and cuts
Planks staggered so seams are not stacked, with the first and last row balanced across the room.
